Our Primary Speaker

Emellie O’Brien

Our founder Emellie O’Brien (EOB) is an entrepreneur and activist who was one of the first to work as an Eco Manager on set dating back to 2011. She was nicknamed "Earth Angel" by crew members impressed by her work ethic. She inspired many across the globe through her work in making The Amazing Spider-Man 2 the "most eco-friendly blockbuster."

Her years of on-set experience and connections across the sustainability and entertainment industries give her a unique take on the current problems facing the sustainable production movement and valuable insight on how to address those issues. EOB is not only an environmental activist, but also an entrepreneur. Earth Angel is the outcome of EOB’s ability to harness the power behind the green set movement to build an industry-disrupting and women-owned business.

what people are saying

“A portion of a film I was producing had crew who had not experienced working on a sustainable production before and were in need of instruction. Earth Angel put together a virtual workshop to educate everyone on how to green a production utilizing their years of experience and the protocols from Producers Guild of America’s Green Production Guide. It was very effective. We are proud to say that we diverted a large percentage of our waste and inspired a whole new group of filmmakers to work sustainably.”

- Mari Jo Winkler, Producer

“Sustainability matters! Earth Angel managed to kick off green film production on a broad level by giving the film industry a wake-up call. Building awareness inspires creative crews to come up with innovative solutions. And — as Earth Angels keep proving — even small investments can have a huge impact.”

- Green Film Shooting

Are you ready to get started?

“Sustainability messaging must shift hard from a focus on abstract responsibility to one that helps people make subconscious choices that make them feel good about themselves. We need to speak to the heart, not to the head.”

— Peggy Liu
