Climate Film Fest: Final Impact Report
As the official Sustainability Partner of the first-ever Climate Film Fest, Earth Angel by TheGreenShot is proud to present our final impact report for the groundbreaking event!
Methodology
At the end of an event, the data collected throughout is analyzed by Earth Angel using a variety of reporting frameworks. These results are then evaluated and interpreted, along with the results of the AdGreen Carbon Calculator.
What We Reported On:
Comprehensive Carbon Footprint: We calculate an estimated carbon footprint by examining utility use, transportation, accommodations, waste management, supply chain, purchasing, and other causes of carbon emissions.
Environmental Impact Metrics: We also review other areas of impact beyond carbon emissions, including waste diversion, water usage, sourcing and vendor choice, and donations/reuse.
Summary Highlights
🚗 2.3 Metric Tons of Carbon Dioxide Emissions (MTCOe) Diverted
♻️ 94% Waste Diversion Rate
🗑️ 244 lbs of Waste Diverted
Sustainable Sourcing:
Carbon Footprint
The AdGreen carbon calculator was used to determine this production's carbon footprint. The total estimated carbon footprint was 24.1 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, 98.7% of which was attributed to fuel use associated with air travel. The air travel emissions are from filmmakers who flew in specifically for this event, staff members were all local.
Emission Reduction Results
Climate Film Fest was able to avoid 2.3 MT of CO2e from entering the atmosphere compared to business-as-usual. The majority of avoided emissions come from eliminating meat entirely from the menu for the duration of the event. The second largest contributor to avoided emissions is the recycling and compost program.
Avoided Carbon Emissions
In order to provide a picture of what these avoided emissions mean, we use the EPA's Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator to show what 2.3 MTCO2e represent in terms of other units of measurement:
5,897 miles driven by an average gasoline-powered passenger vehicle.
279,779 smartphones charged.
2.8 acres of U.S. forest required to sequester over one year.
Conclusion
Earth Angel would like to acknowledge the hard work and effort put in by all the cast and crew to make this production a green set. Big thank you to our Eco Rep, James!
